The record
The Record This Desk Keeps
Arranging a flight needs a journey described. It does not need a person profiled. What follows is short for that reason, and most of it is a list of absences.
Three rows, and nothing outside them
| Held | Sitting where | Lasting | Also seen by |
|---|---|---|---|
| The eleven answers on a request: a name, an address for the reply, an optional number, two places, one or two dates, a count, a note about bags, how firm the dates are, and whatever else the caller chose to write down | The mailbox this desk works from | While the trip is live, plus a short tail, since a later message almost always concerns an earlier one | The certificated operators approached, and the mail service in transit |
| The replies gathered and the quote returned | The same mailbox | The same | The same |
| One word recording that the storage card was answered | Your machine, under this domain | Until you clear site data | No one: it never leaves the machine you are reading on |
Why operators receive it
A trip that has not been described cannot be quoted, so the particulars travel to the operators approached. No arrangement of this service avoids that.
Going with them: nothing beyond what is on the request. Not an identity, not a history, not another request, none of which is held here to send.
Counting, and the absence of it
There is no counter on any page. No analytics, no advertising code, no social widget, no video embed, no map tile and no comment thread, and no typeface is fetched from another company's server: the two faces sit here beside the stylesheet, the script and the photographs.
The consequence is not that page views are withheld. They are never gathered, so no such record exists to withhold.
Hosting requires a host, and hosts keep the terse operational logs that make hosting possible. Those remain theirs. They are not assembled for this desk, not delivered here and not laid alongside anything in the mailbox.
Never asked for
A card number, on any page, at any moment. Banking particulars. A passport, a driver's license or any government number. A birth date. Anything medical. There is no account to open here and no password to choose.
Erasure, and correction
A message to files@autumnlanes.com from the address a request came from will bring back a copy of everything held, or correct it, or erase it. Erasure happens on reading rather than after deliberation.
Where a trip has already been arranged, the operator holds its own record of it and only that operator can speak to it.
Nobody is profiled here and no decision about anybody is reached automatically, which leaves the two rights that ordinarily follow with nothing to fasten onto.
Age
This site addresses no children, inquires after nobody's age, and holds nothing that would disclose it.
